Our Mission
Women's Care Medical Center is a Christian organization seeking to empower women and men to make life-affirming decisions.
Our Story
In 1990, a small group of people united together in prayer with a burden for the rising number of abortions in our nation. From this union birthed what was first known as Sav-A-Life and is now Women’s Care Medical Center, an organization committed to the sanctity of human life, existing to provide tangible help to women and men facing an unplanned pregnancy. Since our beginning, WCMC has touched thousands of families and saved countless lives. Take a look at how we have grown through the years.
1990
Initial Services
When we first opened our doors, our initial client services included pregnancy testing, options counseling, parenting classes, abortion recovery and material assistance. Through the years, WCMC has grown to offer a wide range of services and programs that encompasses all aspects of the life-affirming decisions in the lives of both women and men.
1995
Sexual Risk Avoidance Program
WCMC took a proactive step in preventing unplanned pregnancies by partnering with the Baldwin County Board of Education to provide abstinence education in every 7th grade classroom. Our Sexual Risk Avoidance program has since grown to every 7th and 8th grade classroom in Baldwin County, along with many high schools, giving us the opportunity to teach sexual integrity to over 4,500 students each year. We also teach fall and spring college seminars on all three campuses of Coastal Alabama Community College.
2007
Ultrasound
WCMC converted to a licensed medical clinic, offering two-dimensional ultrasound. This incredible tool educates and empowers a woman to choose life. We have witnessed 96% of our women change their mind from abortion once they see their baby on the ultrasound screen.
2011
Man-to-Man Program
We expanded our services for men to include parenting classes designed just for men. Our man-to-man program, taught by male volunteers, teaches young fathers the importance of building a good foundation for a stable and Godly home. Studies show that children who grow up without a father are at a disadvantage in many areas of life. WCMC seeks to change the fatherless culture by including the father and giving him the tools needed to grow a healthy home and family.
2016
STD Testing
We began offering STD testing at our Main office in Robertsdale. The CDC reports 1 in 2 sexually active young people between the ages of 15-25 will contract an STD. We encourage all our clients to get tested.
2017
Satellite Offices
We opened our satellite offices in Gulf Shores, as well as on the Bay Minette college campus. The opening of these two offices allowed us to extend our reach to the north and south ends of the county.
WCMC has grown tremendously through the years, however, we continue to maintain the core mission and values that established our ministry from the beginning. We have always been committed to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with every client that walks through our doors. As a result, we have witnessed thousands pray to receive Christ as their Savior.
